Vestel equipped the VIP areas of the Volkswagen Arena primarily with the PD49U display model with a screen size of 49 inches. The aim was to offer VIP guests the convenience of being able to follow the football match, recaps and press conferences from all tables and seats with only minimal delay. In special lounges, larger display sizes such as 55, 65 and 75 inches are also used.
The Vestel displays were able to score points in particular with an innovation that is especially important for stadiums in conjunction with the solution developed by system integrator GHMedia: signal distribution. The signal is processed into a LAN multicast stream and sent to the entire stadium in a dedicated, separately switched media network using a fiber optic ring. The SoC on the display mainboard takes care of the conversion back to the image, so no additional hardware is required. This solution not only offers a quick way to transmit the signal to all screens, but also ensures a great improvement in quality compared to the old coaxial cables. After digitization in multicast packets, there is no loss of quality regardless of the cable length. "This type of signal distribution and the resulting integrated central control of the devices is unique and the future for the entire multimedia industry," explains Dieter Rehberger, Managing Director of GHMedia GmbH. "On the one hand, the control system can be quickly and easily integrated into existing systems, and on the other hand, this flexibility allows us to remain future-oriented. In Vestel, we have found a partner who is always open to innovations. We are constantly working on further developments in order to be able to offer the end customer the best possible quality."
